3. MEDICAL STUDENT EVENTS
2010 CAREER NIGHT for UBC Medical students
This event previously took place every 2 years. Due to its popularity, we plan on holding it every year beginning 2010. Over 100 students attended the 2008 Career night. There were many physician speakers from a variety of specialties and family medicine. The 2010 event will have a similar number of physician speakers. The next Career Night will be held March 8, 2010 at 6:30pm. Location is MSAC (Medical Student and Alumni Centre, at 2750 Heather St). Please RSVP to June Lin (4th year medical student rep).
CCMSBC Mentorship Program (Pilot) for UBC Medical students
The kick-off for this new program was in Nov 2009. We are running a pilot of it for one year, first with CCMSBC board members matched with medical students, to allow students an opportunity to speak and interact with a practicing physician, and gain advice in their career path. It is intended for 1st and 2nd year medical students, and is designed to help students make a decision on their career choice. After the pilot, it will be expanded to other CCMSBC members, in an annual match between practicing physicians and students.
